Have you ever heard a joke where a wife keeps complaining that her husband talks behind her back and pushes her around, well, the husband says “what do you expect? You’re in a wheelchair”. Yeah, that’s why Side by Side concept extension handle is a smart idea. It’s actually a simple extension handle for wheelchair but it allows caregiver to walk alongside the person seated in the chair instead of walking behind. In this way, they both can have eye contacts, face to face conversation, this is really important especially when taking care kids with special needs, they need to communicate with their surroundings and guardians. All this is made possible with an extension handle designed by Tammy Kalinsky, the concept handle design was influenced by children’s bicycle, it also features a horn and flash light so that children can also take part of the walk and have great interactive experience.

BKR Wood Frame Bicycle by Pietro Russomanno

BKR Wood Frame Bicycle features several innovative designs, it utilizes wood to get the best out of its physical and natural proprieties of sustainability, malleability, and elasticity. Constructed from plywood for its main structure and inner rubber gaskets, together they merge perfectly like a sandwich through the use of screws. The joint system that uses wood as its main material reduces any vibrations and is able to absorb any shocks.

BKR bike features “Easy Saddle” system, it’s an adjustable saddle that allows you to change the height of the seat quickly, simply by pressing a button. In this way different users can ride the bike comfortable. There’s a special designed dynamo installed on the front wheel which provides energy and speed/distance trip information directly to your smartphone which can be docked on the handlebars.

A new bike security system, this is what Seat Post Trick Lock offer you. The main goal of this design is to find a way to put some relevant functional objects and combine them together to get better convenience. This concept combines bicycle with bike lock. The lock’s cord is located within the seat post while the dials are located near the top of the seat post. User can detach the post from the main frame in order to access flexible cord, thus making seat post becomes the part of the lock.

Its design language and structure support active users in self-confidence and independence as you already know, sport can be a passion and helps reduce depression. Sport inspires hope and eases disappointments. This concept wheelchair compels the paralyzed user to keep balance permanently.

The unique and minimalist frame structure of this wheelchair is made of low-cost hydroformed industrial steel. It is light-weight as well as aluminum structure models and retains its necessary rigidity by adapting geometries known from bicycles. The flexible PARACORE base-element under an innovative customized seat-shell leads to an unstable sitting experience.

ZigZag Three Wheeled Personal Electric Vehicle

Do you still remember your great great grandpa bicycle? This personal electric vehicle is inspired from those classic high wheel bicycles. ZigZag three wheeled electric vehicle tries to answer the need for environmentally friendly transportation. The frame is made of aluminum alloy 6161 which is commonly used to produce lightweight products. The designers hope that this vehicle can satisfy the need of compact, functional, easy to use, and fun transportation for the future.

The users of my product would be initially people 15-40 years old, or people that need to use this product on for work to arrive fast and secure. Thanks to the innovative design, ZigZag can be adapted according the measures of the user, the seat, footrest and handlebar can be regulated in angle and height. The product life cycle can be helped by the idea that can be adapted and added for other products or needs because it can be modified for the user’s needs.

Cojoy : Bicycle for Two Persons That Was Inspired By Dual Paddle Boat and A Wheelchair

Cojoy is a bicycle concept for two persons, inspired from the dual paddle boat along with an operational wheelchair, and is designed to offer sheer fun for the bicycle riders. Each rider is designed to control one wheel separately of the bicycle. The seat angle of the concept is totally adjustable by using the handle according to the need of individual riders. It runs straight when two riders pedal at the same speed and when it requires to turn, the outer rider will ride faster than the inside rider. Riding this bicycle requires a good communication, cooperation and a minimum skill.

The Green Eye Candy and Orange Tequila Sunrise Bicycles

With the sunrise orange color and the perfect white shades, the Tequila sunrise bicycle is really offering an ideal visual according to its name. Even you can compare the body of this bicycle, made of laid fiberglass over steel frame, with a rising sun. During giving the final shape, fabrication of the bicycle’s body has not been done with molds; rather the designer chose to put fiberglass over the top expanding foam. This bike may not seem quite ridable at the very first look but the designer has worked hard to make things easier. The curved handle allows the rider to maintain a comfy sitting even though the distance of the seat from the front wheel is considerably longer.

Eye Candy is a green bicycle with an innovative design and all steel body, ideal for all range of riders. The bicycle was designed to keep a lightweight bike concept in mind and therefore, it doesn’t include any unnecessary body parts. This candy green painted bicycle includes completely functional tail lights in the back pods which maybe the most uncommon feature of a bicycle. Besides, it has grilles and hand made backrest to ensure the riders comfort and fork support in the wheels to offer better durability.

The concept ensures that it’s far beyond its good looks as it also ensures the basic needs of riding a bicycle like agility, safety, and comfort. The design addresses the problem of poor vehicle handling, as the overall construction makes it easier to maneuver and handle just as a normal bicycle with the difference being that the passenger sits inside the wheel on the floating seat. Thus, the rider can concentrate on riding the bicycle rather than concentrating on the passenger!

Pi Electric Bicycle with Semi-Automatic 8-Speed Transmission

The Pi electric bicycle uses a semi-automatic 8-speed transmission to downshift into a lower gear for climbing hills, then up shift for rapid acceleration to a maximum of 20 mph on flats and allows you to pedal normally because the motor automatically disengages when not in use. Powered by a 750-watt electric motor housed in the horizontal chain and motor assembly, the Pi electric bicycle is capable of three modes of operation: electric motor power, human power, or the human-electric hybrid power combination. The electric motor and rider utilize the same 8 speed semi-automatic transmission making rapid acceleration from a stop or lower gears available for steep inclines possible (but with slower acceleration.

Leveraged Freedom Chair for Disabled People in Developing Countries

Standard wheelchair is not enough when you have to go through rough terrain, this is the problem that Leveraged Freedom Chair wants to tackle. To millions of disabled people, wheelchair is a great aid for mobility, what if we can increase the flexibility of this chair regardless nature’s condition? This idea makes Continuum to work together with MIT’s Mobility Lab to design the next generation of LFC or Leveraged Freedom Chair as a high-performance wheelchair for disabled people in developing countries.

LFC design allows the chair to move effortlessly beyond pavement, with conventional push-rim wheelchair, it would be really hard to move beyond flat or smooth ground. LFC takes advantage of chain and sprocket drive train of a bicycle in combination with 2 extend push levers, thus allowing user to move more than 30% faster on flat ground while getting 53% higher torque on rough surfaces. This ability provides great sense of emotional independence for its users.

nThree Electric Vehicle Offers The Comfort of A Car with The Cost of An E-Bike

nThree electric vehicle aims to provide you with affordable, personal vehicle that features the comfort of a car yet with the cost of an e-bike. It sounds pretty ambitious and interesting, doesn’t it? Let’s read what these designers have to say about the project.

Following the recent electric revolution of lightweight vehicles around the world, the nThree is a new design, following the very successful nCycle e-bike concept. With the irreversible process of global economies turning towards renewable energy, the way we see and use the city has already changed and is set to do so dramatically in the next few years.

With our increased awareness and sensitivity towards energy consumption, courtesy among others of the most recent economic crisis, in the last 4-5 years, personal transportation has begun a slow but steady drift away from the model we have come to know in the past century. The 10s and hundreds of new e-bikes and electric cars like the Renault Twizy or Toyota i-Road have shown the way to a more personal and conscious approach. Our new concept builds on the characteristics and refines the strengths of these vehicles to bring electric power even closer to the mass market.

Small electric cars, tricycles and quadricycles all suffer from the same inherent drawback; they are meant to be cheap and affordable but they end up being expensive like real cars because they are BUILT like real cars. The mission on the nThree was to address these conceptual and design shortcomings and design an affordable, single-seat electric vehicle that would offer all (or most) of the comforts of an electric car at the cost of an e-bike.

To achieve the objectives, the nThree electric vehicle was built with a simplistic approach reminiscent on the nCycle. In first place, the vehicle was reduced to the most essential stable geometry of three wheels to reduce cost. Even though the latest small electrics are a great way to move around the urban areas, there is something about these offerings that does not look great at all: Price. Starting from about 7000 Euros and above these 1-2 seaters cost almost as much as a cheap standard car and more than many used ones in good condition.
