AZULIK is a name in the hospitality industry, now the company has established AZULIK mobility. It wants to revolutionize sustainable transportation in Tulum, Mexico with AZULIK EK all electric vehicle. Designed to be doorless, this vehicle prototype boasts unique blend of organic form with sustainable materials. Of course, it is also designed to address its unique urban environmental challenges.
The collaboration between Roth FabLab and AZULIK brings EK, a doorless electric vehicle that echoes its surrounding jungle environment. manufactured in Quintana Roo, EK is crafted from fiberglass then accented with Zapote wood, a native tree known for its durability, then upholstered with waterproof nautical fabric. The company wants to use local materials to support regional economy.
The interior features unique seating arrangement for three, two side passengers facing forward, and a driver. There’s a wooden steering wheel for the driver, central tabletop which is also upholstered in waterproof nautical fabric that complements car’s fluid design. EK is able to reach a top speed of 40km/hr with a range of 100km per charge. It’s a project that serves as a sustainable transportation for other tourism-oriented destinations.
