Zigy Single-Seater Electric Vehicle for London’s Narrow and Congested Roads

Andrea Mocellin, an independent mobility designer, has teamed up with lightweighting expert, DEXET Technologies to work on a future mobility concept, Zigy Single-Seater Electric Vehicle. They started with some sketches on a concept feasibility study for a single-seater electric vehicle, it’s ultra efficient and practical. The main goal is to challenge existing assumptions about design, aerodynamic, and efficiency of compact, electric vehicles. The idea of starting this project was inspired by London’s narrow and often congested roads, filled with SUVs carrying just single passengers to and from work.

The preliminary sketches underwent a transformative process, from simple vehicle into a meticulously crafted concept through comprehensive Design Research. Empowered by various tools from hand sketches to 2D and 3D initial prototype, immersive VR simulations, and finally the concept was refined and shaped into its final form.

Zigy Single-Seater Electric Vehicle boasts supreme aerodynamic efficiency with a lightweight construction. It’s an ideal vehicle that would allow rider to explore congested city streets with ease. In order to reduce overall carbon footprint of Zigy, the chassis was designed using thermoplastic composites, it helps improved reusability and recyclability compared to thermosets. Andrea Mocellin and DEXET Technologies were also supported by Niche Vehicle Network (NVN) that perfectly displayed how collaboration between innovative companies can bring high-profile results.

Zigy aims to reshape urban mobility, the compact design would meet demand of modern cities yet it will exceed your expectations in both aesthetics and functionality.
